The Elijah/Elisha cycle of stories is one part of Scripture to which I continue to return for inspiration in science, religion and social concerns. I get these interests from both my parents - my mom as housewife, feminist, lay pastor and my dad as engineer turned into pastor. I have lived in both city and country. There are things I love about both. I've been a cook, roofer, manager, pastor, musician, and more. Currently I work at a motel and am trying to become a writer.

Nepotism?
Thanks to Andrew Sullivan for this article on Mrs. Kagan reviewing the work of her husband. One of the main people to review whether the idea of a surge is working is married to one of the architects of the same idea. I always thought a review meant you disclosed any conflict of interest and tried to be dispassionate. I guess I was wrong. I work in a small business where several people are related and it is difficult to have someone unrelated review the work. But this isn't a small business we're talking about and isn't there someone with a little less interest in making the work product sound good to do the review?
