Sins in the Scots Confession

The third of the documents in the PC(USA) Book of Confession finally does mention some sins. I see the church concentrating on the sexual sins (or perceived sexual sins), but there are a number of other places we should be looking.

III. The Scots Confession

A. (Chapters II and III) Original sin: the act of Adam and Eve in conspiring against the sovereign majesty of God by eating of the forbidden tree (and by implication doing any act that is clearly prohibited by God).

B. (Chapter XI) Being:
1. stubborn
2. disobedient
3. cruel persecutors
4. filthy persons
5. idolaters
6. all sorts of the unbelieving

(Chapter XIII, omitting duplications)
7. murderers
8. oppressors
9. adulterers
10. drunkards
11. thieves
12. workers of iniquity
13. lustful for pleasant and delightful things
14. envious in adversity
15. proud in prosperity
16. ready to offend the majesty of God

C. (Chapter XIV) Acts to the contrary of good works which are commanded of us:
1. not to call upon God alone when we have need
2. not to hear God's Word with reverence
3. to have or worship idols
4. to maintain and defend idolatry
5. lightly to esteem the reverend name of God
6. to profane, abuse, or condemn the sacraments of Christ Jesus
7. to disobey or resist any whom God has placed in authority, so long as they do not exceed the bounds of their office
8. to murder or consent thereto
9. to bear hatred
10. to let innocent blood be shed if we can prevent it
11. to breach any other commandment of the first or second kind (i.e., to do works to the honor of God and to the profit of our neighbor)
12. to do works which have no other warrant than the invention and opinion of man
