I found a book on the Elijah-Elisha cycle that I like. Back in seminary my professors tended to concentrate on the socio-economic side of the story, but this book looks at it from a literary standpoint. The book is called, The Crucial Bridge: The Elijah-Elisha Narrative As an Interpretive Synthesis of Genesis-Kings and a Literary Model of the Gospels - a mouthful - and concentrates on the literary forms interelate and play against and for each other. It is, I believe, acessible to those at an upper high school or college level and work using in a church class for those interested in serious study of scripture.
