Scrutiny

One of the things I've noticed recently is the way both Inteliigent Design proponents and ex-gay proponents scrutinize the literature. They both claim science, but when reading their literature they use different standards for their supporters and their opponents. Those who support them never have any problems, but those who oppose them have a multitude of problems. Whether it is the lack of a specimen in evolutionary or an admitted flaw in the study homosexuality, it is immediately pointed out whether it supports their position - that is if it is by someone who doesn't support their position. The flaws in Intelligent Design or Reparative Therapy are never mentioned except as a note that the flaws that have been pointed out aren't really flaws.

If either were real science the proponents of the ideas would be pointing out the lacks and flaws and where they need further study. But.... that just doesn't happen. Intelligent Design and Reparative Therapy supporters are wedded to the idea that they like rather than the idea of finding the truth.
