Suspicious phrases

"Doesn't it seem reasonable that..." or "Isn't it likely that..." or similar phrases seem to raise the hackles at the back of my neck. They sound so reasonable. They sound like all they're asking for is a hearing. And what they do is avoid asking the question of 'What is actually happening?" And the important part is not what is likely or what may be, but what is.

Those statements, as reasonable as they sound, are meant to avoid looking for the truth. And that's why I'm always a little suspicious when I hear them.
