One of my simple pleasures is folding laundry. But I was a little frightened the other day when I realized I was folding sheets at less than a minute a piece. Flat, fitted, pillowcases - fifty-five pounds of laundry - were done in about twenty-five minutes. That means that I'm better at folding laundry than I ever really wanted to be.
Yet it is a pleasure to turn dirty linens and terry into fresh, neat piles. And even when those piles disappear while I'm unloading the next dryer, even then, I feel like I've accomplished something for the day.
And so I take pleasure in the little things, even if I do more of them than I really ever figured I do.
