I did make a comment about just getting there to put out breakfast and if they were unhappy with the selection I could go back to following the posted times and not have breakfast out until 6am, but then have everything.
What are our expectations and are they reasonable? Those are good questions to ask. Sometimes there are no good answers, but sometimes it's pretty obvious. When in a restaurant I tend to tip less and more. I've worked there and know some of what to expect. If I have bad service I don't reward it. But if someone sees that my water glass is empty and refills it, then I leave a larger tip. If someone sees that my silver is on the plate and I've finished eating and clears the table, then I reward it. But if I ask for help and it takes a number of minutes while the server gossips with a friend, then I start decreasing the tip. If I see tables left dirty while the help stands around, then my tip goes down.
What are our expectations? Are they reasonable? Sometimes, as in the service industry, it's fairly easy to answer. Other times it's not quite so simple.
