The Prophet’s Test
The cry goes forth from rich and vain.
The cry that says, “I shall not hear.”
But open eyes and open ears
must tell the Word of God.
Don’t tell me that I will be slain.
Don’t tell me that I’m worthless.
Don’t tell me where my sons will go.
Don’t tell me of our God.
The cry goes forth from rich and vain.
The cry that says, “I shall not hear.”
But open eyes and open ears
must tell the Word of God.
What is commanded by our God.
To love God with our all.
The second one is like the first.
To love other as our self.
The cry goes forth from rich and vain.
The cry that says, “I shall not hear.”
But open eyes and open ears
must tell the Word of God.
The poor are weak, oppression strong
The prophet’s voice called lies
Yet one there is who will win forth
and that one is our God.
The cry goes forth from rich and vain.
The cry that says, “I shall not hear.”
But open eyes and open ears
must tell the Word of God.
