The Waiting Room
Can I walk barefoot
‑‑ a naked foot‑‑
on rusty tacks
and broken glass?
Much easier is that
than waiting, waiting in a room.
Waiting in a room for news
of surgeries and operations.
Much easier than that
is walking, walking barefoot,
on broken glass
and rusty tacks.
